THE CANTEEN OF THE MONTH:

Here we have a very trendy and very pleasant restaurant even if you no longer are 20 years old and even if you are not a locomotive of all Paris, of Marrakesh ... or of all Lyon because the older brother is in Lyon. Dark wood and graffiti on the raw "glace chestnut" walls. Good taste, successful and nice design. Simple, very friendly. We could say a light Zen tendency... a little .. It is not a reproach … I swear it!!!
Smiling reception as soon as you arrive and while eating, the service is good child but always courteous and effective.

Dishes are substantial and fresh products are worked simply. It is quite obvious that the cook does not want to cook with its time. Manifestly he has chosen French or Italian recipes which have given their results and which he has worked them with local savours and the know-how. A true oven with wood with a real " pizzaillo " allows you to savor "home made" pizzas (try the one with beef...) and quality grills.
Fresh pastas are also very well done. 4 cheeses "Pennes" and " fusilis" with spices and middle cooked salmon is to be tasted without hesitance. The finish with the Tiramisu is great.

A beautiful local cellar, French and Italian wines to sparkle the evening are proposed to you at completely suitable prices.

Later in the evening, the atmosphere becomes a little more loungy, the music more groovy and I have to say that I like this fashion which allows to have a last drink and to prolong the night a little without changing places, without breaking the atmosphere.

Everything is there to spend with friends a true cool evening. Just to say that if you are alone, that the bar will welcome you without jibbing and you will be served with a smile.
Next month I shall make you discover an extraordinary canteen of Moroccan food.

Here is another restaurant of the family of the
"very trendy" ones.
On the new Ourika road the ochre walls of the Bô & Zin …
The place where everybody wants to be seen.
The must of the " fooding and clubing " of all Marrakesh.

Haughtiness internal wood design. Very Zen …
Magnificent garden, beautiful young people and " cute " girls to welcome and serve you.
The menu is a cunning mixture of Asian, notably Thai dishes, Italian, French and local food.

At the bar with our "mojitos": chicken saté tapas.
Perfectly sliced thinly (it is rare) and perfectly roasted, accompanied with a very successful " satè " sauce and here also a good point. (It is rare in Europe even in the real "Thai" restaurants).

To begin the meal, in a very romantic garden, briouattes with spinach and rocket salad with Parmesan cheese.
I wanted to judge the quality of the Parmesan cheese and the freshness of the rocket. Total satisfaction.
The great Italian cheese was not too aggressive and the young shoots were smooth. Nothing to say.
To follow a Wok of caramelized squids, an earthenware cooking pot of lamb in quinces and fresh Zabaglione of fruit salad, crème brûlée with saffron and honey. Everything was made a success with a small flat for the squid wok which I would have preferred a little more sweetened salted and peppered. Anyways it is just for saying nothing for whipping the cook …

Guerrouane grey, very fresh, in a glass, perfectly adapted and at a very nice price: 3,5 € the glass.

To summarize, my Thai quality model food in Marrakesh, until this day, was the exceptional Thai restaurant of the Aman Jena hotel (especially in the evening) but I have to say that Bo & Zin supports the comparison. Naturally, I only talk about the food, not about the atmosphere or about the amount of the bill...

It is necessary to admit that this dinner was very pleasant, that the staff was attentive, effective and fast while rooms and gardens were in full. The bill is consequent but for the services and the offered quality there is nothing to say … The best is always a little more expensive!
It is necessary to linger in the lounge to take advantage of the atmosphere and the music of the local talented DJ and of the barman who makes "Mojitos" to make dream the cubans "cubanos".

Car driver at disposal.

LE RIAD DES MERS

The tone is given, situated in the Medina of Marrakesh, this new place dedicates its menu exclusively to fishes and shellfishes.
The charm of this Riad in the warm tones with cedar wood, velvet plum armchairs and sieved light makes of a lunch or a dinner a privileged moment rhythm by some jazzy notes.
It is in the patio with its fountain in Fez zelliges or on the mezzanine that you can sample a sophisticated food created around the multiple savours which offers the fish.
The Riad des Mers (Riad of Seas) owes its success to the requirement and to the professionalism of his owner, Nicolas. Indeed, a daily shuttle brings back from Oualidia, Casablanca, Agadir and Essaouira the peaches of the previous night.
Thanks to this implementation, the menu offers a considerable choice of fishes and fresh day shellfishes and cooked at your tastes.
You can taste oysters, sea urchins, clams or even see spidedrs and lobsters roasted or cooked at your taste.
Among the starters let yourself tempt by the " fish trilogy in tartare » (raw saucy fish), « nems with goatfishes » or « briouates in seafood ».
You will certainly hesitate for the continuation between a Sea bream or a magnificent St Pierre « in salt crust », a wok of fish or the fresh gambas at the planche (rusted).
To finish the choice is difficult between ….. The chocolate mousse
« True home made » and the brig sheet of apples.
I have ordered both but it was to taste and be able to speak about it …
Both are great!

The white Medallion Sauvignon at 210 Drhs was perfect for the occasion.
The service is relaxed but attentive, the "young people" in charge are effective and smiling. The bill is very reasonable and the report quality / price is excellent. To put in your favourites.
Good canteen!!!

LE CAFÉ ARABE

The Café Arabe is the first true cafe in the sinuous paths of the Medina. It is situated in an old house of an traditional style, with orange-coloured trees in the yard and in two or three neighboring colored lounges. It is serve an Italian cuisine (the owners are from Rome) and a big traditional Moroccan menu with fruit teas, juices, buffet of salads and pastas and a wide selection of quiches homr made, tarts and cake. We can not find this quality nowhere else in Marrakesh. Even better, the Café Arabe also has a comfortable small pink bar and a terrace, wide-spread of pillows with a sight on the city's roofs.

CHEZ CHEGROUNI

This humble cheap restaurant is one of the favourite in the Medina. It looks like a small garage with a small terrace in front of but it is clean and popular, well steered both with people of the country and with tourists. Choose soups, salads, roasted meats, couscous and earthenware cooking pots (meat stews) in the menu (in English) and scrawl your order on one of the paper towels; hand it to a waiter and he will return as your invoice at the end the meal.

EL FASSIA

The card in the Moroccan style is a rarity but it can be found at El Fassia, who is also unique because it is steered by a feminine cooperative: the leaders, waiting for the staff and for the management is only made by women. The decoration is mat and the service can be grumbling but the food (earthenware cooking pots (meat stews) and couscous) is magnificent. El Fassia is at the North of the Medina towards the new city of Guéliz on the main Avenue Mohammed V.

KM 9

To dine in KM 9 also begins with a tour in taxi: it is is nine kilometres at the South of the town centre. There is no such thing in the city - it is a super-elegant road relay on a small opened country road which combines an informal bar with the possibility of having a intimate diner. The food is Italian, presented in the form of four gran menus, among which each begins with a magnificent buffet od antipasti. The meal, once ended, guests can go in a back garden with hundreds of colored lanterns plus disco lights and a great sound system.
